The Byers Shed was a small wooden building located in the backyard of the Byers house.
It was in this shack where Will took shelter from the Monster before he vanished into an alternate dimension. Later, Will was also interrogated in this shed by his friends and family when he became possessed by the shadow monster.
Description[]
This shed was a small wooden building with a door and a window. Its contents mainly consisted of miscellaneous household stuff and paraphernalia. A hunting rifle was also stored there.
History[]
1983[]
On November 6, while returning home after playing D&D with his friends at Mike's house, Will saw a mysterious figure in the middle of the road. It terrified him, which caused him to crash his bike. He ran home on foot. There was no one in the house. Will tried to call for help, but the phone malfunctioned.
When the creature unlocked the front door, Will ran out the back of the house. He took refuge in the Byers shed. Will nervously loaded a rifle to protect himself. Will faced the door to the shed with the rifle ready to fire. But the shed's dangling light bulb began to flicker and a strange, guttural growl was heard behind him. Will was stunned to see the monster behind him, before he suddenly vanished into the Upside Down.[1]
On November 7, while searching for Will, Hopper was alerted to the shed by the barking of the Byers' dog, Chester. He investigated the shed and heard stranger noises in the shed. While he investigated the shed, Hopper failed to hear Officer Callahan calling for him, even though Callahan was just outside.
Brenner traces scans of a source of supernatural energy
On November 8, when Will's mother and brother left the house, Dr. Brenner and his agents investigated the shed and detected traces of some supernatural energy.[2]
1984[]
On the night of November 4/5, Mike convinced the group to interrogate Will, who was then possessed by the shadow monster, in order to find its weakness. To prevent Will from realizing where he was, which would alert the shadow monster, the Byers shack was completely disguised. Will was tied to a post in the shed. Upon being awakened with smelling salts, Will failed to recognize where he was. Joyce, Jonathan and Mike then shared their fondest memories with Will in an attempt to snap him out of the shadow monster's control.

Although Will vocally demanded to be released, and showed no sign of escaping the shadow monster's control, Hopper realized that Will was covertly communicating with them in Morse code. First, Will tapped out "HERE" to show that he was still able to communicate despite the shadow monster. Then, Will tapped out a second message-"CLOSEGATE". At that moment, the house phone rang. Will recognized the ring and realized where he was. This also revealed the group's location to the shadow monster. The shadow monster then sent several demodogs to the Byers house.[3]
