Charlie Heaton (born February 6, 1994) is an English actor known for playing Jonathan Byers in the Netflix supernatural drama series Stranger Things.
Early Life
Heaton was born in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, England before moving to London at the age of sixteen. There, he joined the London noise-rock band Comanechi as a drummer and toured with them for over a year.
Career
Heaton made his acting debut in 2015 with the ITV crime drama series DCI Banks, playing the role of Gary McCready. He also appeared as Riley in ITV's detective series Vera.
He starred in BBC One's medical drama series Casualty as Jason Waycott. In 2016, he appeared in the thriller film Shut In, co-starring Naomi Watts and Oliver Platt and directed by Farren Blackburn. However, playing Jonathan Byers as one of the lead roles in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things earned him much popularity.
Heaton was also be starring as Samuel "Sam" Guthrie/Cannonball in New Mutants, a 2019 film based on the Marvel Comics comic book of the same name.
