The Harrington family had a residence in Hawkins, Indiana. The family were relatively wealthy, and could afford a substantially large home, complete with a heated pool. According to Jonathan Byers' street map, the house was in close vicinity to the Byers home.

1983[]
On November 8, 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Harrington went on a business trip out of town. Their son, Steve, hosted a party at the family home. He invited various friends from school, including Nancy Wheeler, Tommy Hagan and Carol Perkins. During the party, Barbara Holland was taken from the pool by the Demogorgon.
1986[]
Nancy was sent to the Harrington pool in a vision by Vecna, where she saw Barb's body.
