Hawkins High School is the high school in the town of Hawkins. It is located next to Hawkins Middle School. Its sports mascot is the Tigers, corresponding to the middle school's team, the Cubs.

History

Background

At some point in Hawkins's history, Hawkins Middle School and Hawkins High School were both established. One source suggested a "Hawkins Elementary" also existed.[1]

In the 1950s, Jim Hopper attended Hawkins High School, along with Joyce Maldonado and Bob Newby.

1983

The school had an assembly on the football field following the vanishing of Will Byers.

1984

The day after Halloween, the school basketball teams hosted a friendly match among themselves at the gym, in which Billy's team easily outplayed Steve's.

1985

The kids went on summer vacation so they had no reason to visit Hawkins High or attend school. Steve also managed to graduate from Hawkins High, but due to not having the grades to go to college, he was forced by his father to get a job at the newly built Starcourt Mall's ice cream parlor, Scoops Ahoy.

1986

March

Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, and Max Mayfield had now begun attending Hawkins High high as freshmen, while Robin and Nancy had become seniors. Jonathan had transferred out of Hawkins High due to his family moving to California. Mike, Dustin, and Lucas had joined the school's despised D&D club, the Hellfire Club, ran by repeated senior Eddie Munson. Lucas struggled to be loyal to Hellfire while also being a benchwarmer for the Hawkins High Basketball Team, headed by Jason Carver. Meanwhile, Max had begun seeing the school's new guidance counselor, Ms. Kelly, due to her poor grades and health as a result of Billy's death.

Lucas led the basketball team to victory following a 22-year losing streak after winning the championship. Afterward, the kids weren't at school due to Spring Break. However, Dustin, Lucas, Max, Nancy, Steve, and Robin broke in to obtain files from Ms. Kelly's office regarding Chrissy and Fred's health statuses before their deaths.

Following what was perceived as a massive earthquake that split Hawkins into fourths, the Hawkins High School was used by the Red Cross to house the homeless and injured. Steve, Robin, and Dustin arrived bearing donations before volunteering; Steve sorted through clothes, Robin joined Vickie in making PB&J sandwiches, and Dustin handed out cups of water.
