Stranger Things Season Two cropped Spoiler Warning!

This article or section reveals details on the upcoming second season. Read at your own discretion...

Max is a main character in the upcoming second season of Stranger Things. She is a tough and confident 13-year-old girl whose appearance, behavior, and pursuits are more typical of boys than of girls in her era. She has a complicated history and a difficult relationship with her stepbrother, Billy, that has made her protective of her past and generally suspicious of those around her. She's also good on a skateboard, which she uses to get around pretty much everywhere.

In 1984, Max moved from California to Hawkins, Indiana, joining the local middle school and befriending Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will.[1][2]

Behind the scenes

The character was first revealed in a casting call obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.[3] Matt Duffer said they did a "wide, wide search for one new kid that we're adding. She's a cool new character," most likely alluding to Max.[4] On October 14, 2016, it was announced that actress Sadie Sink had been cast for the role.[5]
